Our Environment

One of the deciding factors in running a children's nursery here at Shepherds Hill is the fantastic outdoor space. We have four acres of varied habitats, for example woodland, large lawn areas and an old orchard. There is wildlife by the bucketful: badgers, foxes, muntjack deer, rabbits, many types of birds and countless mini beasts.

It is the ideal location for children to have firsthand real-life experiences and learn about their world and the creatures they share it with.

The nursery has its own specially designed secure outdoor learning space where the children have the opportunity to plant and grow some of their own food and explore and investigate through play and learning.

We have a dedicated outdoor co-ordinator, who identifies, implements and observes all activities to ensure they are fun and beneficial to all children, as well as organising forays into the larger garden daily.
